A Passionate Journey
Chris’ professional art career began in the late 1980’s. A childhood passion & dream set into fruition. The interest towards fine arts grew in Chris’s mind and heart during the early part of his artistic growth, with a continuing focus on nature and all its greatness. Capturing beautiful beach scenes, wildlife, pristine waters & sea life, into a colourful display of evolving talent.
He is presently discovering new areas within the art spectrum, leaning towards Impressionism and contemporary styles. “Exploring change is a great way to keep the passion alive.”
Chris’ life has taken him in many different directions. From school he worked for many yrs in the steel industry as a fitter & turner. Part time in the building industry ,to farming in a family situation. Prior to his art career he owned & operated a cleaning business which after many yrs became an aggravation to an old back injury. This prompted him to leave the physical work behind and pursue something that had been planted in his mind from a very young age. “My mother had very strong interests in the art scene, so with her encouragement plus a small percentage of the gene pool, the rest was up to me. My dad was known as the bull---t artist of the family,an inspiration in himself and brother Greg, a now very famous wildlife artist was of immense inspiration also.”
Since Chris turned to full time artist, he has managed to undertake many pursuits within the industry, to help pave the way. His very first competition entry, back in1990, received the people choice award and a $15 cheque. “should have framed that one.” Chris says. That little prize seemed insignificant at the time but was the opening door for what lay ahead. Within a couple of years he had opened his own Gallery which successfully operated for 5 yrs in Hervey-Bay. He helped finance and set up an art co-op with over 60 art & craft patrons. Along with many other accolades, including Champion picture In Noosa art comp, with his winning entry ‘Chloe Louise’ (portrait of his daughter ) Chris has undertaken many solo and joint exhibitions from Bris to Cairns. Held workshops, Chinchilla to Noosa. Also resident Artist and teacher for 3 yrs at KingfisherBay Resort – International Bird Wk. Chris has also supported numerous charity and fund raising organizations.
“My art has become my life, a treasure within itself, and to that I am greatful. I hope to continue and explore this positive journey to where ever it leads me and also to help create awareness of this amazing world we live in. Where would we be without it?”
